The first of May, 2021, will go down in history as the day that witnessed the laying of the foundation stone of the future Al Ahly Stadium. 

Mahmoud El Khatib, the club's president, and Al Ahly’s board members laid the foundation stone of the club's stadium, taking a new promising step in our 114 years of history. 

El Khatib's Speech

In his speech, El Khatib welcomed all the esteemed guests, including the following respectable names:

Ashraf Sobhy: Minister of Youth and Sports,

Assem El Gazzar: Minister of Housing, Utilities and New Urban Communities,

Ahmed Rashid: Giza governor.

“When I was a player, I had a dream of having our own stadium. Many years have passed and here we are witnessing a new historic chapter in the club’s history.” 

“I am not worried about the financing of Al Ahly Stadium, we are a big club with a huge fan base." 

“The moment of laying the foundation stone of the stadium is the beginning.”

Al Ahly’s president added that he is expecting many big companies to join the project and contribute in the construction of Al Ahly Stadium.

El Gazzar Reflects on Laying the Foundation of Al Ahly Stadium 

“I would like to congratulate Al Ahly’s board of directors and the club’s fans on laying the foundation stone of Al Ahly Stadium.”

“Moreover, I am a firm believer in the importance of sports in the community, as it serves the Egyptian youth.”

“Since president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi took charge in 2014, the Egyptian state exerted huge efforts in order to further increase Egypt’s urban communities. Laying the foundation stone of Al Ahly Stadium serves that vision.”

“Finally, I would like you all to observe the place now and look at it in the future when the stadium is fully constructed. The ministry exerts all its efforts in order to increase the urban communities in Egypt. I would like to see Al Ahly sharing the same vision with us. Lastly, I believe that such a stadium will positively impact Sheikh Zayed City.”
